Don’t worry though you’ll easily find the most popular places around Newcastle in no time anyway. However, you might never find the likes of the Dog and Scone found on Pudding Chare or the Tyneside Cinema found on Pilgrim Street. So here we go, the top ten hidden secrets of Newcastle.
You only have to look at their Instagram once for your mouth to start watering. Found on the Quayside, the Great British Cupcakery are open daily serving you the very best bake goods from cupcakes, layered cakes, afternoon tea and more.
Found on Newgate Street, Mr Mulligan’s is amazing mini golf course infused with space and punk themes. It has a late night bar, restaurant and offers student discounts. It’s the perfect place to have fun with your friends.
These cute cafés have the cutest creatures; I’ve included both cafes just because everyone has their own preferences when it comes to animals. Personally I’m more of a dog person! The Dog & Scone café can be found on Pudding Chare and the CatPawCino Cat Café can be found on the Quayside. Check out both of their websites to see some pictures of their fury friends.
This little gem is a rock and roll themed bar with live indie music performances and a fringe theatre located directly above. This bar can be found on Clayton Street, perfect for a friends get together. Don’t forget to try out their Dog & Parrot Quiz held on Wednesdays at 8pm.
5. Lola Jeans
Found near Grey’s Monument, this bar is an exceptionally elegant venue. Offering a wide range of tantalising cocktails and super scrumptious food. From floor to ceiling murals, parquet flooring and chandeliers it’s probably the most beautiful bar (great for an Instagram picture).
It’s more than a cinema I promise! This hidden secret is amazing; you can watch a film whilst eating afternoon tea. They even host special events for example their hosted a karaoke party for a special screening of Rocketman in which you had to dress up. Oh and they only host free movie nights!
7. Jump 360
Only a 15-minute drive from campus, Jump 360 is an exhilarating indoor trampoline park. If you’re looking for something fun to do look no further. Jump 360 has amazing features like foam pits, traverse climbing wall and of course trampolines for days.
8. Fat Hippo
You haven’t been to Newcastle if you haven’t been to Fat Hippo! Located in Jesmond and Shakespeare Street, Fat Hippo brings you the most bangin’ burgers. They have an extensive range of burgers and also cater for both vegetarians and vegans!
A Great place to take your friends if you’re up for a bit of fun and a challenge to escape. As long as our not claustrophobic as you do get locked inside a room for an hour. Escape can be found on Grainger street, make sure you’re ready to solve puzzles and break codes to help yourself and your friends escape.
Blackfriars is a restaurant which offers bespoke cooking courses from bread making to dinner party cooking. It even has a pizza and prosecco course and a cocktail course, so I’m all in! Quite reasonably priced and super fun to do with friends.
