How the week works
So you’ve arrived at your halls and bought your wristband online. But what now? You can collect your wristband on campus from the front of the Students’ Union – if you’re not sure where this is, follow the crowds or our great volunteers can either direct or take you there. There’ll be loads of signs and a big blue tent where it’ll all happen. You’ll also get a lanyard with the week’s info, plus a goody bag with deals especially for students! You’ll need three things to collect your official wristband:
A form of official ID (passport, driving licence etc.)
Your university confirmation letter – either in your emails or through the post
The confirmation receipt of your wristband purchase in the email you gave when buying it
Wristband collection is from 11am - 6pm on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd September. Wristbands can be collected from 9am Monday 24th to Friday 28th September.
For those arriving on or before Saturday 22nd September, the Students’ Union is putting on an awesome event that night from 10pm, hosted by London-based Mohiki. If you’re arriving after, don’t worry, our first official night is on Sunday 23rd September from 6pm, Oblivion, as we explode into your first week of uni life! Here are what you can get exclusive access to on this day:
Discounted food and drink vendors from all over Newcastle
Live music on our huge outdoor stage from Cliq and Sigala
Check out the stylish Student’s Union bar, Luther’s
For the other main night events, we will show you the way to the action, either from your halls’ or the Students’ Union if you’re staying elsewhere. The daytime activities are done through a signup process from 8am on the day they happen and the alternative nights are on the door, with the details for each available at the red Info Tent outside the Students’ Union every day.
What can I sign up to with my wristband?
The first daytime activities start from 11am on Monday 24th, and run up until the Thursday at 6pm. There will be over 300 sessions a day, so you’re bound to get on the ones you want. That’s when your main and alternative night time events kick in. Every night is something different, with unique venues all over the city, and loads of extras in there. Glitter cannons, photo booths, silent discos, a lovely celebrity appearance and music from some top acts such as Sigala are just some of the things you can come and see!
We know not everyone’s into the same thing, so we have tried our best to make the wristband worth it, no matter what you like. That’s why we have over 80 different types of activities during the day and always an alternative to our main nights. For the complete lowdown on all this, the details are on our ‘Daytime’ and ‘Night Time’ website pages.
You are able to sign up for that day's events from 8am each morning. Places are allocated on a first come first serve basis.
